Hugging the shore . . .

By hestone

In starting this blog, I am hoping to create a place for sharing information, thoughts and discussion about issues in criminal law in Massachusetts. I would like to write about State and Federal criminal law, trial practice, practice management, client relations, and any other topic that relates to defending individuals against the prosecutorial power of the government.

The title of this post comes from the title of a collection of literary criticism by John Updike. He said that writing criticism is to writing original fiction as hugging the shore is to navigating the ocean; the necessary skill and required daring are incomparable. What will happen here is like hugging the shore in comparison to what criminal defense lawyers do every day.
